ONE OF THOSE DAYS

Yesterday was "one of THOSE days". You know those "MUMMY" days, you used to have when you had 3 kids in nappies.....when you ended the day with a fringe matted together in baby grossness!!!

I haven't had one for a while, so yesterday was a shock to the system!!

This mummy can now shower daily!!! Honest!! It's true!!. Okay, so you wouldn't know it to look at me. But, I do have that option.

This mummy now gets to eat all her own breakfast....In peace!!! And if I liked hot drinks....I could have one. No one would spill it, no one would scold themselves on it. And nobody would demand my attention until the hot drink grew skin and created it's own life source!!!!

But my god, yesterday was a disaster!!!

It started like this....

"FUCK!!!!!!! IT'S 8:45!!!!!!! EVERYBODY  GET UP!!!!!!!!"

if we were still in the uk, school would have already started!!! Luckily it doesn't begin until 9:20 here in Donegal.

Yes yes I know. A 9:20 start time and I'm still late, every single day.....meh.

So we're all in panic mode. I make the boys pack lunches (polly has made her own for months now.....I love girls) I'm barking instructions, making breakfast and I finally shout....
"9:15!!! GET IN THE CAR!!!!"
We all get in the car.....

Haha hahaha of course we don't. ....I can't find the keys!!!

Where are the keys???? Where are the keys?????

I'm shouting at kids to get in the car (cars unlocked....I'm that organised....Thank god we live in the middle of nowhere)

Where are the keys??? Ah ha!! Keys!!!

9:20!!!!

I rush back outside, are the kids in the car?? Of course not!! They are smashing the ice puddles on the drive!!! "GET IN THE CAR!!!"

We get in the car as I remember we have a dog......and it's still outside......

9:25

"BUSTER!!!!!! BUSTER!!!!!"
Up bounds a soaking we dog. I chase him around the drive shouting "IN.....IN!!!" And pointing at the front door.

He laughs in my face and covers me in wet mud......

Eventually he's in.

I'm back in the car. "Mummy I don't have my bag"
I'm back in the house. Get the bag 9:35 we are off!!!

9:40 we are at school..... yes FIVE MINUTES AWAY......I'M STILL 20 MINS LATE!!!

They're all in. I can relax now and get back to being a smug mum of school age children ;)

I make my breakfast and I browse Facebook.  Feeling smug reading all the statuses by mums of babies mwa ha ha. Not a  single bit of vomit on me ;)

The dog walks over. .....Aww. .He's so cute! He's such a good boy :D......He's just vomited a pen lid on my shoe!!!!! "BAD BOY!! GIVE ME THE PEN!!! GIVE ME THE PEN!!! BAD DOG!!!"

Right he's sorted. I log onto my workstation and get down to scentsy business with a nice hot chocolate  and some crap tlc show on the tv :D

The phone rings...

"Mrs jarman,  it's the school. Polly has no lunch... The poor neglected orphan child showed me her lunchbox and it's totally empty!!! Your a shocking excuse of a mother!!!!!"

(Well okay the conversation wasn't quite like that. But it sure felt like it)

So I rush off with the most nutritious, mother of the year, packed lunch I can manage from a kitchen where the main ingredient in each cuboard is chocolate spread.......

I get to school and fortunately I'm met by a smile. I forgot it's Donegal and everything is "no bother" up here ;)

The teacher asks me about scentsy and I spend 5 mins gushing about how safe  scentsy is and the warrenty.  Bla bla bla (I'm even thinking god you sound boring!!)

She replies "yeah....buy they smell sensational!!!!"

And that's basically what it comes down to. So I give her a catalogue and she promises to book a party!!!

Woohoo please god let this come off and get the February ball rolling :D

Anyway.....its perked me up!!! Given me a boost and put my day back on track.

I go home and decide to look at how messy the floors are, the paint that should be on the wall by now and get harassed some more by the dog ;)

The evening goes as usual. No one likes dinner, no one knows how to do their own homework and everyone stares at the tv ignoring me :D

I'm hoping today is the day, I become mother of the year and they all turn into the Waltons.......

How Scentsy saved our Christmas

So with the final decoration back in the loft and the last of our guests back home....I sit and reflect on our first Christmas in Donegal.

We had a long visit from nanny, who stayed the entire month. Then shorter visits from grandad, uncle snake, daddy and aunty M. We generally dread the run up to Christmas. It has been known to cause our biggest small person, huge meltdowns and panic attacks as his aspergers goes into overdrive. This year we were in a new place with people coming and going.........I didn't hold out much hope tbh.

But then we discovered this little feller.......

And at times of high anxiety, he retreats to a comfy spot with a calming fragrance and his super soft best friend. Tucker the tiger, has been to school, church, to visit Santa, the cinema.....pretty much everywhere!!!

Meltdowns have been minimal and his new coping strategy is working wonders.....

Now, with so many different visitors at the busiest time of the year. My God I was grateful for my massive haul of Scentsy!!!!!! Our bathrooms have been in constant use, as has the washing machine!!! But thanks to the following Scentsy hacks. I managed to cheat and pull off the perfect housewife bit.....without actually doing much housework ;)

And you lucky buggers.....get my trade secrets.

THE GUEST BATHROOM SURVIVAL KIT

1) a scent pack hidden in the loo roll!!!!! My god it smelt gorgeous in there!!!  Whatever the weather ;)
2) all my towels were washed in Scentsy washer whiffs!! The Scentsy fragrance on these towels lasted so long that my guests only put them in the wash when they left!!! (No running out of clean towels here)
GET THESE!!!! They are so good they have their own blog post coming shortly.
3) Scentsy soap.......a little bit unknown, but gorgeous and lasts soooo bloody long. It's been in the bathroom 3 months and still only half gone!!

THE GUEST BEDROOM SURVIVAL KIT

1) obviously a warmer.....but how to use it?
I used a vanilla wax bar as it's really calming and sweet scented. I popped it on in the evening, so when my guests went to bed it smelt heavenly. They would turn it off overnight. And still comment on how the scent lasted till morning!!!..........covers up those morning man smells too ;)
2) again the washer whiffs!!!! Nothing like fresh bedding that stays fresh!!!
3)and again the washer whiffs!!!..........I pop a few in my Hoover, meaning I actually only had to Hoover once a week!!!! (A bit minging I suppose, but it freed me up to be with my visitors and the carpet was super Scentsy and fresh)

Now......... Most of my guests are smokers, as is the Essex boy......I am not!!

So to accomodate this, I turned my back porch into a smoking area. GENIUS IDEA!!!!!

Look at my gorgeous assistants here :D  helloooo aunty m and nanny :D

A few washer whiffs in the ashtray and some clean breeze warming in the zen rock warmer.
Happy guests and no Nast nicotine smells for me ;) happy holidays!!!!

XMAS DAY

Christmas Day was awesome!!! The Essex boy outdid himself with the food and the entire week he spent watching Jaimie Oliver paid dividends :D

The smalls were extatic that Santa came.........especially as he bought mummy new ugg boots ;)

And this little gem.....

The Santa sleigh Scentsy warmer with Christmas cottage wax bar. Meant that not only did we all feel Christmassy but the dreaded Brussels sprouts, didn't ruin the afternoon!!!!

So Scentsy saved my sons Christmas angst, my home and my guests. Can it get any better? Oh yes it can!!!!!

Christmas with kids is expensive!! Yes Mr Sherlock, no ####!!!!!!!
Couple that with an early payday and you've got 6 long weeks till summer!!! (Jan pay)

Scentsy rescued us!!!! Paying as usual on the 11th meant that we had a little extra to fall back on. Right before Christmas and right after!!!!!!

Hallelujah Scentsy!!! By god we could've kissed your edible grade, safe wax bars!!!!!!.......especially the apple press bar.....that stuffs smells delicious!!

The Beginning......

So 2014 was a year of changes for me...
I moved from South East England to rural Ireland, with my 3 small minions and the Essex boy. I turned 30!!!!!! And finally became a sophisticated, mature and sensible woman......(okay, I'm still waiting on the sophisticated, mature and sensible bit......)

And I invested in Scentsy......

I had moved from an area of the uk where everything was on my doorstep!!! Friends, family, cinema, supermarket. All no more than a 15min drive away. Most within walking distance. My life was busy!!!! I spent my days running late, stressed and apologising. I tried to cram in work, friends family commitments and full time motherhood into a mere 24hr day. I was exhausted.

If I was having a bad day, I simply jumped in the car and landed at a friends house for tea and sympathy. If I didn't have time for that, then I would pop into asda and cheer myself up by buying junk I didn't even know I wanted......"oo look at this useless piece of shit!!! How did I ever live without it!!!"

Now I find myself an hour away from any real shops. Further still from asda and a plane journey from friends and family.

To begin with I loved the quiet!!!! I loved slowing down and I made lots of new friends :D the kids settled quickly at school (a miracle!!!!!) They had also morphed into well behaved and willing to help children!!!! (Another miracle!!!!......although the novelty is now starting to wear off ;)

But once the house was unpacked, decorated, re-organised a few hundred times. I realised, I needed something for me to do...........

I just didn't know what. And living in a remote area, jobs are few. The biggest of my small people has extra needs and I didn't want to venture too far from home.

Then one evening I was sat flicking through the selling pages on Facebook. I spotted a post about Scentsy. My own Scentsy warmer had vanished in the move and I hadn't found anyone in my area to get a replacement from. So I commented on the post and intended to buy a new one......they had a pink vintage teapot warmer that would go great on my newly finished DIY, shabby-chic kitchen dresser :D

Little did I know what the Facebook conversation I had just begun would bring me......

It turned out that the lady I was chatting to, had just moved into a house in the next lane to me!!!! We became very close friends, very quickly. Despite the Essex boy being convinced I was meeting an internet  murderer and would end up buried in the bog ;)

Within 3 weeks I not only had my vintage teapot warmer and home full of lovely Scentsy fragrances.
But I had my own business, something to fill my time and fantastic family friends...

2015 has just begun last year will be hard to beat.........but I like a challenge ;)
